SONA 2011: When Politics Meets Philippine Fashion

Politicians and celebrities are expected to make a fashion statement in this year's State of the Nation Address (SONA) that was held last Monday 25 July, 2011 afternoon at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City. The dress code at the Batasang Pambansa for the SONA is quite tricky—there are only so many fashionable ways to wear the barong, baro’t saya, Filipiniana, and Maria Clara while still keeping to the formality of the event.
Despite the emergence of new designs each year, the classic terno (primarily composed of a blouse, long skirt and a shawl) remains a mainstay in the so-called SONA red carpet of Philippine Fashion. Check out the following photos taken at the SONA 2011.
