Lanvin’s New Bad Boys Rule in Designer Clothing

If any collection best captured the current state of play in men’s fashion it was Lanvin, whose exhilarating show Sunday morning, June 28, in Paris was a real double whammy: The coolest collection of designer clothes in the most assuredly staged show. Where previously Lanvin was all about the sensitive man, poetic figures whose clothes all looked designed for dinner parties where only Bordeaux vintages are served, for Spring 2010 Lanvin’s man's first destination will be a nightclub. That much was clear from the pre-show ambience in the Salle Wagram - a Berlin techno track and bordello red lighting, where the start of the show was heralded...

Lantern Skirt: Trend Alert for Designer Clothes

Lantern skirts were a hit on the spring/summer catwalks and now we're catching on to this fab new shape in terms of designer clothing. The lantern cut is a little like the tulip skirts that were so big last season, only shorter and with a bit more volume. Graphic prints are a great way to brighten up your summer wardrobe and this funky lantern skirt from has a retro 80s feel. The lantern shape does tend to add a little more volume to the hips- which isn't great for curvy girls. A colour black will detract away from the hips and draw the eye down to gorgeous tanned holiday legs with your favorite designer clothes. White lantern skirt is...

Through the Wind and Rain in Burberry Designer Clothes

The most outstanding designer clothing collection seen Saturday, June 20, the opening day of the Italian menswear season, was Burberry, whose stroll through the wind and rain was the show that most connected to the current economic zeitgeist. While the clothes were very much in step with the gentleman explorer aesthetic of Burberry’s creative director Christopher Bailey, the Spring 2010 collection nonetheless reflected the current global mood of wariness, dressing elegantly but never loudly and with an overriding sense of humility. No designer anywhere, given the lack of action at cash registers, is trying to reinvent the wheel, but Bailey,...

Jason Wu Resort 2010: Convertible Chic

In the cheerful spirit of Resort 2010, Jason Wu was all smiles on Thursday, June 4, as he showed his collection in a garden-spot in New York, where beams of natural sunlight that crept in through the clouds only further accented his 'highlight' pieces. Through designer clothes. In a collection that honed in on a few electric colors, Wu let us taste the rainbow with fan-pleated skirts in both bright red and green, and saved the 'oldie but goodie' highlighter-yellow for the end with a peplum shiftdress that was worth the wait. Pairing these brights with muted shades of grey, Wu played with contrary forces, mixing things up to attain that contemporary...

Hair Accessories - Headbands and how to wear them with your Designer Clothing

Headbands can be a fun way to pep up your outfit - not just since Blair Waldorf is rocking them on Gossip Girl. In fact, in the show, headbands kind of stand for a conservative, old fashioned style. The new headband trend though intends to loosen up your style and add something girlie to it. I think a headband - be it a feather, crochet, satin or plastic headband - is best worn with a simple outfit. Denim pants or a skirt and a simple white or black fitted shirt with natural make-up seem to be the best fit. Even though I haven’t “re-embraced” this long forgotten ’80s accessory I am willing to experiment with it now - especially since the price...

Fashion wishlist for your Designer Clothes: Say it with flowers

This collection of floral prints will help you stand out from the crowd in this season's blossoming floral trend Strategic poppy placement makes this colourful blouse a flattering option. Channels Marni at a fifth of the price and still looks expensive: a shoo-in as this week's star buy. Floral and chiffon, but happily the asymmetric hem prevents disastrous twee-dom. Something for floral militants - a dress that would have made the Von Trapps sing loud and proud. A bold print on a swimsuit manages both to look on trend and cover a multitude of sins. We likey. The pleated print lends a quirky edge to a basic court. You can't go wrong with...

Prairie Trend: Modern and Vintage Designer Clothes

The prairie trend is one of the trend in today's designer clothing fashion. It is sweet, simple-charming silhouettes, frilled camisoles, ruffled bib-front dresses, swishy, bustled skirts and done up in both retro floral prints and obviously modern, haute-glittery textures. It is now showcased by designer such as Marc Jacobs and Polo Ralph Lauren. This trend reflect a time when even the homespun types so wearing it looks disturbingly delusional. Exotic designs, Asian-inspired patterns and fabric, heavy painted wood bangles, tribal-looking bib necklaces embellished with raw stones felt defiantly stylish and daring against all the charming, innocent...
