Giordano Unveils new Monsters University Collection

One of the leading brand in Philippine Fashion, Giordano truly breaks the barriers between humans and monsters as it unveils its latest collection of characters from Disney•Pixar movie, “Monsters University,” the exciting prequel to the 2001 breakthrough animated film, “Monsters, Inc.” on Friday, June 21.
The special collection allows you to experience the magic and fun of being a student at the world’s best Scare University even before the movie shows on the big screens.

Timeless, essential and delightful, Giordano’s Monsters University collection is made with the brand’s signature 100% high quality cotton material which is easy to mix and match with other pieces, perfect  for a long day of classes or for a casual day out with friends.

Make like a Monsters University student and display your school pride with Giordano’s MU-inspired shirts emblazoned with the Monsters University logo.

If your style is preppy, polo shirts with the University logo up your style quotient without sacrificing comfort. They are available in fun, vivid colors.

Just like any other human college, MU is active when it comes to the Greek experience. The Oozma Kappa (OK) is a house of wholesome, good-natured misfits who seem to have bonded over their inability to make it through the Scaring Program. Among their members are the adorable Mike and Sulley. You can be a part of this special (even endearing!) society with colorful crewneck shirts featuring the unique Oozma Kappa coat of arms.

Admirers of the lovable one-eyed green monster Mike or the giant furry blue creature Sulley can now wear their hearts on their sleeves with crewneck shirts featuring the characters and go crazy with Team Mike vs Team Sulley discussions.

Aside from the comfy shirts, Giordano also offers hoodies adorned with the MU logo which will surely keep you warm and stylish during the rainy months ahead. MU-inspired cheerleader dresses are also available in selected branches.

The fun new collection is available in all Giordano branches nationwide.

Freeway National Artist Collectors Series Featuring Lucio San Pedro

Philippine Arts is on the rise once again as it meets Philippine Fashion, because this year marks the centennial year of a man whose musical talent and influence greatly affected the course of Philippine music and culture. This man is none other than Lucio San Pedro, hailed National Artist for Music in 1991. Freeway celebrates his 100th anniversary with the launch of the 9th installment of the National Artist Collector’s Series.
Known for its collaboration with different renowned Filipino artists, Freeway is honored to launch the National Artist Collector’s Series for Fall 2013.  Freeway celebrates Lucio San Pedro's 100th Birth Centennial with the brand's collection of awe-inspiring pieces beaming with Filipino pride. It’s no surprise that the 9th National Artist chosen to pay homage for this series is a man full of talent and ingenuity. Lucio San Pedro, National Artist for Music, is a great Filipino composer and teacher. Known for his composition of the widely popular lullaby “Sa Ugoy ng Duyan” (in collaboration with another National Artist, Levi Celerio) and the symphonic poem “Lahing Kayumanggi”, Lucio San Pedro has paved the Pinoy world of music with plenty of his beautiful compositions bearing national soul.
For the collection, it is composed of a wide array of casual to work tops and dresses using fabrics such as satinized twills, matte charmeuse, poplins and knits.  The unique cuts and styles made out of different fabric combinations are carefully crafted to flatter the woman's figure without sacrificing comfort by using mostly stretch fabrications. As for its visual prowess, the collection combines floral inspirations with hand drawn lines and curves fused with lyrics and titles of San Pedro’s famous orchestra pieces. Colors range from the basic black and white to subtle tones such as beige and teal. Certainly, these pieces are made to capture the essence and mark of the Filipina's modern beauty.
In line with the nationalistic theme of the event, the night was capped off with the presentation of the winners of the recently held Art Bag Design Contest. Their winning designs, Fiestas in the Philippines by Kevin Roque and Ang Huling Babaylan by Christine Sioco, are now available in Freeway stores nationwide.

BUM Back To School Collection- My ATEEtude : I Am Not Typical

After playing around with risky colors like neon brights and loud prints, Philippine Fashion clothing brand BUM takes on a more subdued, but still equally exciting and defined, design approach for its back-to-school collection called “My ATEEtude : I Am Not Typical”.
According to Benny Reyes, the senior merchandiser and designer for BUM, loyal patrons can expect this new collection to still bear the brand's signature “rebel/emo” look. What they should watch out for are the new elements that would give BUM a distinct feel.
Neon brights, for instance, would still be in this back-to-school collection, but they're now used only as “accents” to enhance I Am Not Typical's new focus: digital prints. “Digital prints are all the rage now, they come in different forms. And this trend will continue throughout the rest of the year.” BUM is also introducing pieces that have a camouflage design for a more rugged feel.   “We have camouflage jackets. We also have camouflage pants for our girls  line.”
The brand is also continuing its line of colored chino pants, which were a hit in BUM’s previous “I Change the Rules” collection. He excitedly shares that the brand now has “woven polos with stripes and checks in dark colors,” which is a nod to BUM's grungy, dark side. Denim will still be the focal fabric for most of the bottoms, but BUM will continue pushing the development by bringing in new fabrics and elements every now and then.
“We have chambray shorts, or those above-the-knee bermuda shorts for guys. They may be new to our target market, but already the early-adapters have bought them.”  As for I Am Not Typical collection’s girls line, BUM adds some feminine touch to its pieces. Flor Almosera, designer-merchandiser for BUM’s girls  line, says that BUM is making use of “floral printed fabrics and patterns,” which the brand has never done before.

“We still have those splattered prints, both for the tops and bottoms, that have become part of BUM’s trademark,” she adds. “But now, we’re introducing tops with lace accents and neon trimmings. Our colors are still bright, but less intense than neon brights.”  Flor also shares that BUM is coming out with a jumpsuit and reversible pants for girls. “Two different colors on two different sides of the pants. So, girls now have the option of choosing which side to wear.”

BUM is available in leading department stores nationwide. For more information, visit www.bumequipment.com.ph or like them on Facebook at http//www.facebook.com/bumequip.
